Was the First Lady’s Twitter account hacked? That’s the question on the mind of a lot of Nigerians following an outburst from her official account on Twitter.
The outspoken Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, sent the the social media on fire yesterday when he made a grave allegations that the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari was indicted in the widely reported corrupt Halliburton scandal.
In a press statement by Garba Shehu, the presidential Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, the Presidency dismissed as laughable the desperate attempt by Governor Ayo Fayose to link the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari, to prosecuted U.S Congressman, William Jefferson’s bribery scandal for which the American lawmaker was convicted in 2009.
As if the statement from the presidency is not enough, the president’s wife, Aisha Buhari, took to Twitter and labelled the state governor as an unchained mad dog. “Enough is Enough Fayose. A mad dog that isn’t chained. I refuse to keep quiet,” the First Lady posted on her verified Twitter handle on Tuesday’s evening.
As the tweets went viral online and social media, Nigerians called for her to either take the posts down or stay out of “complex” political matters, and she obliged and later deleted the controversial tweets.
